This article gives an overview of the Ability Drive® app, its function, and settings.

1. Installing the App


The Ability Drive® app is available to download from https://www.tolt.tech/support, or type abilitydrive.app directly into your web browser address bar and press "enter".


When the download completes, click "Open file". An Ability Drive® shortcut will appear on the Windows Desktop.



2. App Drive Screen


When the app opens, it automatically starts in the drive screen, which provides a forward-facing computer view with a semi-transparent button overlay.



    Driving the Power Wheelchair

    

            To drive, look at the arrow in the direction you would like to move. Drive arrows activate instantaneously.


    Stopping the Power Wheelchair


            There are 5 ways to stop the power wheelchair:


                    1. Close your eyes.

                    2. Look off screen.

                    3. Look in the margins between the buttons.

                    4. Look at the pause button, or any non-drive button.

                    5. Press the buddy button (functional switch) to power off the power wheelchair.

    

   Mode Switch, Settings, and Pause


            There are 3 non-drive buttons on the drive screen:


                    1. The Pause button stops driving when activated (turns yellow) and allows users to rest their eyes.


 







                2. The Mode button switches modes and gives access to seat functions.



                3. The Settings button accesses the Settings screen.



                    *All non-drive buttons are activated on a delay, with a dwell-to-click time of 2, 3, or 4 seconds.


3. App Settings Screen


The Settings screen allows users to change settings that impact the Drive screen.



    Camera View

    

            Users may choose a forward or rear-facing camera view for the Drive screen. 


    Buttons


            Settings (gear icon) - Gaze Enabled or Touch Only


                    - When set to Touch Only, the Settings Button on the Drive Screen can only be activated using touch.


            Delay - Short (2 seconds\, Medium (3 seconds), or Long (4 seconds)


                    - Adjust the dwell-to-click time of any non-drive button.


            Contrast - Low, Medium, or High


                    - Adjust the transparency of the Drive Screen buttons.

 

            Size - Small or Large


                    - Adjust the size of the Drive Screen buttons.


    Drive Layout

            

            Standard, Compact, Center, or Simplified


                    - Adjust the drive screen button layout.


    Other


            Mode Switch - On or Off


                    - When set to On, the Mode Button will appear on the Drive Screen.


            Driving Mode - Momentary or Semi-Latched


                    - Semi-Latched allows the chair to continue in the last selected direction as the user’s gaze moves                                 between drive arrows until a new command is given, offering smoother, more fluid navigation. 


            Gaze Dot - Small, Large, or Off


                    - Adjust the eye tracker gaze dot.


    Exit

            

            - Closes the Ability Drive app and returns to the eyegaze device main screen or Windows Desktop.


    Drive


            - Returns to the Drive Screen.


    Status Messages



 -> Eyegaze device and eye tracker serial number.


 -> Indicates if the eye tracker can see the user's eyes.


 -> Status and model number of the ADT hardware.


 -> Computer name and version of Ability Drive app.




    Support


             - Closes the Ability Drive app and takes user to the website support page, tolt.tech/support.
